Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has added her voice to the growing list of celebrities applauding Kesari: Chapter 2, the historical courtroom drama starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday. Taking to Instagram, Katrina described the film as “terrific,” commending its storytelling and performances.
In her story post, Katrina wrote, “An untold story told so beautifully by Karan Singh Tyagi, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari. So proud of you. Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday were just terrific. Congrats to Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Karan Johar.”
Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari: Chapter 2 explores the lesser-known events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 and the courtroom battle that followed. The film centers around C. Sankaran Nair, a bold and principled lawyer portrayed by Akshay Kumar, who challenges the British colonial powers in court. R Madhavan plays the opposing legal counsel, while Ananya Panday takes on the role of Dilreet Gill, a fictional but compelling character inspired by women in the freedom movement.
The film has been lauded for its gripping screenplay, emotionally charged dialogues, and authentic depiction of a significant chapter in India’s colonial history. Critics have praised the nuanced performances of the lead cast and the debut director’s bold vision.
A Small Slip, Quickly Fixed
Katrina’s praise, however, didn’t come without a minor online stir. Her initial post omitted mention of Ananya Panday, sparking social media commentary about the oversight. Fans of the young actress quickly took notice, prompting Katrina to update her post and include Ananya alongside her male co-stars. The update was well received, with many appreciating her prompt correction.
Industry Applause Grows
Other Bollywood celebrities have also spoken highly of the film. Vicky Kaushal described it as “an untold story told with grit and sincerity,” while Arjun Kapoor congratulated the team for bringing to light such a powerful historical narrative.
The film, backed by Dharma Productions and Leo Media Collective, continues to perform strongly at the box office, with collections crossing ₹33 crore in just four days. As it gains momentum, Kesari: Chapter 2 appears set to leave a lasting impression both as a cinematic achievement and a patriotic tribute.
